FOMITE

A novel of and about other people’s words, The Not Yet of the Gods to Come tells the splintered tale of Jewish art historian, József Sárkány, who discovers one day that he is descended from the notorious antisemite and Nazi collaborator, Robert Brasillach. At once his life begins to unravel: he hesitates, doubts everything, stumbles blindly through the days, finally collapsing in a panic one morning on a crowded subway train. Crippled by these attacks, he retreats to his apartment overlooking Washington Square Park where, with no other recourse, he is forced to reckon with himself, with the horrors of the present and the not-so-distant past.Only in the end does he venture outside again, can he imagine the days to come.

About the Author

Peter Nash is the author of the novels, Parsimony, The Perfection of Things, The Least of It, In the Place Where We Thought We Stood, and Ghost Story. He has also written a biography called The Life and Times of Moses Jacob Ezekiel: American Sculptor, Arcadian Knight and co-authored a collection of essays with George Ovitt called Trotsky’s Sink: Ninety-Eight Short Essays About Literature. He lives in New Mexico.
