About the translators

Maria A. Mahoney was born and raised in Germany. She received the equivalent of two Master's Degrees in English and Geography from the University of Freiburg. After a successful career in Vermont as a teacher and librarian, she now enjoys exploring new adventures such as woodworking, blacksmithing, glassblowing, and translating texts from her native German into English.


Dennis F. Mahoney was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. After undergraduate and graduate studies in Massachusetts at the College of the Holy Cross and  the Univeristy of Massachusetts-Amherst, he taught German for more than 40 years. Now an emeritus professor of German at the University of Vermont, he has enjoyed working with his wife on several translation projects.
